Hands

Ink stained, wrist strained,

fingers callused:

A writer’s.

Untraceably

quick, kidnapee:

A thief’s.

Left, right, hook, cut,

rearrange bites:

A fighter’s.

Blood coat painted,

sainted to save:

A surgeon’s.

Rough terrain, strength

beyond restrain:

A laborer’s.

There is much to learn from one’s hands.

If you look closely at these lands

you could begin to understand

the inevitable struggles,

multisyllable successes,

commute through community that,

engineered this individual.
