Minute Minute
anytime…
anytime,
Anytime,
ANYTIME,
Any time,
Annie’s time,
A NY time,
A minute minute,
Defines the city.
Fly Boy Fly
There is an expiration date…
There is an expiration date,
On blaming parents for choices made,
Always one available, whether to grow or fade,
So when will you take control of your fate?
Seize shears, snip umbilical cord straight off,
Responsibilities for chasing one’s passion,
Lay in the physical, mental, spiritual effort you put out,
Wings may have been folded for years, even cut,
Spread, regrow they will, with will they must,
Wind picks up from stern; sails enlarge to full mast,
People naturally want to be part of something bigger,
I don’t blame them, evolution shepherded us into community,
‘Bigger than themselves’, feel like they’re part of an army,
Sports teams, religions, tailored cultures, family traditions,
Irony lies in their identity expanding to a larger reality,
But to feel bigger you must drop self, individuality,
Ironed out personalities, political correctness hammered,
Nails down, tall poppies leveled out, outcasts cast out,
Sacrificed for your club community country hive, no receipts,
Memories erased of your exact existence,
When from the beginning the biggest part,
That part was you – the essence brought onto planet earth,
No one could clone gene for gene, the potential gifts,
You could possibly impart onto humanity, lie within,
Lie to yourself and will never know if that was the case,
Self-sabotage, hide in fear of imagined consequences,
Steam rolling your way – your way, tonight’s play,
That will make tomorrow’s day, so see to it that,
You make the time and space to have your say,
Or see time fly by, a movie directed by other people’s opinion,
Step up soldier for world defying flight, fly Boy fly.
Death Dream
We all love a warm bed…
We all love a warm bed,
On a cold day, long stretch of work,
Give ourselves completely to sleep, rest heads,
Transported into another world, dream stork.
Yet at the end of a long life,
Days, weeks, months, years compiled,
Anxiety sets in, with Father time we strife,
Struggling to crawl back before history’s filed.
Sleep isn’t feared for we know to what we return,
Existence after life is uncertain so crisis occurs,
But just as sleep ends a day, death, life must adjourn,
To give one enough rest to invest in the next venture, entrepreneurs,
Whether it be emptiness, reincarnation, or another dimension,
Dive into death dream, preparing for worst, hoping for best.
Dry
Depressed ditch dug brain…
Depressed ditch dug brain,
A wrought, rotted out dry sponge,
Abnormally sane with the insane,
Sense health slipping into slump,
Despise pity, feeling bad for self,
Box negative up, release stock shelf,
Douse in gas, last sale, must combust,
Warmth from this fire I can trust.
Holy Days
Holidays have become reminders…
Holidays have become reminders,
Of how far family has travelled, erected dividers,
Separated, yet at night as I gaze upon the stars,
Thinking about you, the rest, and the tsars,
I hope you are doing the same when your sun rises,
Thankful for memories given to me when I was younger,
When together we had celebrated these holy days,
A gratitude only earned in loneliness, tears, and anger,
One I hope my children will bear without – these yesterdays.
3am
Cherish the deep night…
Cherish the deep night,
Awake vigilante, dark knight,
Silence, the great meditation,
Allowing for a minute’s concentration,
This side of the world fast asleep,
A night owl’s hours, honouring hunts,
A time one cannot be bothered, meek,
By the daily toils of survival stunts,
Space where art may flourish,
Unconcerned about the props that hold muse up.
Game
I’m not a player I just crush a lot…
I’m not a player I just crush a lot,
Can’t hate the man, look to the rules of the game, all fraught,
Most played the game, pulled, fucked, turned out,
Got salty, started slangin’ fuckboy, flipped the word ‘bout,
I understand your ways, natural composition,
The need now to hold down investment,
But why try to shame me into submission?
Only accomplished bringing on abandonment,
Confused cause you wanted to taste the other side,
Locked by a double standard, society told you to abide,
So was it envy or frustration that bought your judgment?
Luckily some women still understand my story,
Biology got me programmed to spread seed, you see?
Populate the Earth, Genghis Khan an army,
DNA that’s predisposed to act in certain environments,
Due to a long line of Y chromosome inheritance,
Nature and nurture played hopscotch, Double Dutch,
Learned my strengths, last seconds of the game, came clutch.
Because
Movement makes my meditation momentous, so I run…
Movement makes my meditation momentous, so I run,
Anxiety dissipates, opened lotus, so I run.
Ideas, the seeds that sprout from fertilized mind,
Oxygen, the water that feeds brain in kind, so I run.
Muscles broken down, stronger they all resume,
Lungs filled to the limit for increased volume, so I run.
Started on the right foot, avoided going left,
Slipped the cousin of death, committed time theft, so I run.
Needed daily practice, mind conspires,
My conscious denies unconscious desires, so I run.
Allowed to live fully in every moment,
Breathe in, breathe out, feeling powerfully potent, so I run.
Dropped in paradise due to God’s toss of dice,
Could of easily stayed in third world, harsh price, so I run.
Great gifts bought me grateful spirit, awe of life,
Could have spoiled with envy, eternal strife, so I run.
Laziness delegated to the unworthy,
Ravenous for experience, burn apathy, so I run.
My journey… no, my process toward a dream,
Composed of many steps, stairway up to the cream, so I run.
Started in the recesses of busy halls,
Moved purpose, focused on family walls, so I run.
These times will not last long, in peace I prepare,
Task to close and destroy enemy, my fare, so I run.
Transcend body, temporary meat locker,
My existence eked out, meet masterful maker, so I run.
For Sophia
The world may resemble a dark abyss nowadays, corrupting blight…
The world may resemble a dark abyss nowadays, corrupting blight,
Hope blotched out by ominous storms, snakes, vultures and ravens,
Still, dearest Daughter, Dad’s defense pierces through to light.
What have men become? Too lazy to provide, too fearful to fight,
Emasculated from a young age, these boys formed into cravens,
The world may resemble a dark abyss nowadays, corrupting blight.
Machiavelli, ambitions made me a rider, riding deep into the night,
Papa’s a travelling man, many places been, seen, all your havens,
Still, dearest Daughter, Dad’s defense pierces through to light.
Beware of false intentions, puffed up chests, hired height,
Brothers focused on fronting instead of building, made up mavens,
The world may resemble a dark abyss nowadays, corrupting blight.
Disciplined, intellectual, beauty you have become, if sight serves right,
Your Mother’s power coursing through your actions, my heart – graven,
Still, dearest Daughter, Dad’s defense pierces through to light.
A Father’s love for you soars over the clouds, in constant flight,
Sweet Sophia, supported until the end of time, earth meets the heavens,
The world may resemble a dark abyss nowadays, corrupting blight.
Still, dearest Daughter, Dad’s defense pierces through to light.
Encompassed, In
Sacrificin’, sufferin’…
Sacrificin’, sufferin’
a million humilations,
to proceed to prosperin’,
no longer just survivin’.
Steady, short focused,
the horse blinders on,
jockeyin’ 4 pole position,
tunnel vision advisin’
playin’ power pacin’,
stayin’, forever thrivin’.
Chasing Death
Let me do what I do best, wax and wane poetic…
Let me do what I do best, wax and wane poetic,
Born with a Cancer’s nature, I move moons,
Hunt begins with getting you into the right mood,
Crab walk for the sake of forsaking direct approach,
Girls want a dream spun around them,
As if they didn’t know the final outcome,
For men are visual creatures, women quite different,
Enjoying the deep protective sound of voice,
I drip lush words into your ears, day after day,
The shell you created, broken down by the bay,
An entrance presents itself, not the time for thinking,
Sunrise, slip her out of the sundress, play acting,
Plunge into duvet covers, cover of night, pool of happiness,
If even for a moment… le petit mort, I reincarnate,
Combine bodies and souls, our worlds whole,
A combination greater than the sum of our parts,
Phallus and challis, wine poured, mind intertwined mind,
Supercharged this ride, we exponentially multiply,
Life flashes before my eyes with explosions, from the cradle to you,
So don’t blame me baby, look to my animal energy, the need to seduce,
Channeled Caesar, I came, I saw, I conquered, veni, vidi, vici,
Plunged my sword into many bodies, fainted, realizing what I’ve done,
This loss of consciousness cured with rolled tobacco,
Fell out of bed, lit cigar, nicotine streaming through my veins,
Brought me back, physically inhaled and exhaled reality,
More lives than a thousand cats, but my lives cursed to beget deaths.
Just Desserts
I gotta figure my life out…
I gotta figure my life out
Before I start fucking it up.
Just like you can’t make
Something out of nothing.
An initial investment loaned
Deserves its just desserts.
A Sun’s Sons
Seeds of our origin sprouted from suns…
Seeds of our origin sprouted from suns,
Collapsing stars exploding formed this universe,
Molecular material from our mothers, for our sons.
Hammers ignited powder, propelling time and space through guns,
Whether omnipresent God, nature, whoever, whatever, spun this verse,
Seeds of our origin sprouted from suns.
Trillions of actions led us here, unimaginable collisions,
Millions of years from primates to persons it took to traverse,
Molecular material from our mothers, for our sons.
Le Roi Soleil, Sun King, ruled Europe for the most seasons,
Perverse power made many on Louis XIV converse,
Seeds of our origin sprouted from suns.
I see your brilliance, in all it’s majesty, illuminated as masons,
Who convinced you otherwise? Lift this veil, this curse,
Molecular material from our mothers, for our sons.
I call my brothers sons cause they shine like one,
In the spirit of Raekwon, Wu-Gambinos, I immerse,
Seeds of our origin sprouted from suns,
Molecular material from our mothers, for our sons.
Thin Red Line
Young smug lieutenant…
Young smug lieutenant,
Fresh from the academy,
Dropped into the war,
Leading veteran platoon,
Thirty men depend on him.
Ego stopped survival,
His actions riddled good men,
Difference between,
Arrogance and confidence,
Is a thin red bloody line.
Another Day
I do not fear death…
I do not fear death,
At least I do not think so,
Is this thought the folly of youth’s flow?
I will only know when grasping for my last breath.
Once six feet under, closest above, body beneath,
I hope to have lived with virtue, elbow to elbow,
Found my darkest fantasies, brought them out of the shadow,
Infected kin with unabashed spirits, wealth, wisdom I bequeath.
After authenticity accomplished, ambitions achieved,
Progeny of children raised with love and guidance,
Embodied serenity when challenges came my way,
I will welcome the grim reaper to my table, let him feed,
With my soul finally free, cut from body with scythe in this dance,
I ride into the night, death being another part of life, another day.
Decision
A decision exists within the space of seven moments…
A decision exists within the space of seven moments,
First breath, the thought appears in my consciousness,
Second breath, I steel myself for its developments,
Third breath, pupils dilate, neurons fire off – instantaneous,
Fourth breath, muscles contracting, physical endorsements,
Fifth breath, heart pumping loud, it’s no longer anonymous,
Sixth breath, I am running toward fear, the enemy encampments,
Seventh breath, katana out, swinging between body and head,
Past this volume, if you hesitate, you are dead.
