Miscommunication

Was once enraptured by an English teacher,

Hung onto every word with bated breath,

An eloquent ease set her apart from the rest,

Learned the spoken word, daughter of a preacher,

A mermaid’s tune that I would follow, wade into death,

My love for her was taken for miscommunication,

Became lost in translation with Miss Communication,

An irony not escaped, understanding misunderstood,

Found myself standing dumbfounded, foolhardiness,

Composed a child’s mind, confidence was missing,

Oh! How much would I sacrifice to again hear Miss sing?

Misspelled, misspoke, and took a fatal misstep,

I’m just a missioner, forgive me Miss, I’m still a sinner.
